“I see…so Zombies are thos living dead creatures. I wonder what does they look like?” she said as she stood up from the sofa they were seating. “Alright! Let’s go!” then, they said their good byes at their client. Lucy got surprised at Enma’s sudden change attitude. Just earlier, he keeps on saying negative things. But, now, he doesn’t seems like scared of anything! What happened to him. Lucy simply nods in agreement after hearing his statement. “Y-Yes, let’s go. You’re right and, let us start investigating” Lucy was just staring at him, a bit curious.
Enma looked over at her staring as they began to walk away from the mansion. “Did you want to say something…?” He asked before walking into a sign post, returning to his clumsy self. “Oww…” Enma rubbed his face that had smacked right into it. “I should watch where I’m going… anyways let’s hurry up and find the cemetery. We can probably just ask someone where it is…” He said before looking around. There weren’t any living dead out on the streets yet so that was a good sign. People would be safe for now but they needed to move forward to find some kind of clue.
“You can have confidence to, you know? Just try. There’s nothing bad if you try right?” as they arrived in their destination, a young girl went out, asking them to go inside her big mansion. As they got inside, their client first introduced herself properly. After their client named ‘Trish’ introduced herself, she explained the details about their mission. The mission is about a certain artifact, it is not just any ordinary artifact. That artifact is too powerful that can make dead people alive again. Enma mentioned the word ‘zombie’. After hearing that word, a puzzled look appeared on her face. “Zombie? I haven’t heard that word before” she started. Then, an idea came into her mind. “Could it be…that ‘zombie’ is the living dead?”
After hearing the full details, Lucy said “Alright! Don’t worry, Trish-san. We will definitely find and return that very important artifact to you. Fairytail mages won’t let you down.”
“Zombies… are exactly what you said. They’re the living dead.” Enma sighed and stood up. “We need to go look for clues somewhere. Maybe the person who took it is planning something with dead bodies? Do you think that a cemetery would be the best place to check first? There should be many bodies there to use… for whatever this guy has planned…”
“Come on Lucy, we should get going before anyone gets hurt by this.” Enma had completely changed his attitude towards the situation. He needed to stop this from happening. There had been too many movies about a zombie apocalypse and he wasn’t about to let that happened to this world. “I can’t let them hurt anyone…” He grit his teeth and thought about how the Vindice had hurt his family along with other close friends. His eyes determination burned like a flame as his ring was set on fire. It didn’t hurt him but rather, it was the source of his power. “I swear, on the title of the boss of the Simon mafia family. As the 10th, I will stop a tragedy from happening.”
“Well, you have a point about that. It really is hard to fight back when they are bigger but, even though they are bigger than you, i’m they have ‘weak points’.
Lucy listened to Enma’s statement. Lucy sees him that, he really doesn’t have self-confidence and also, he’s a negative thinker. “Why would I laugh at you? It’s not funny and I know how you feel…specially the other guild members who were bullied when we disappeared for seven years” She sighed. Just remembering about that made her sad. “You can be help. I’m sure of it! Anyone can be a help! In many ways…”
Enma smiled slightly at her. “You’re really nice… I wish I had your confidence when it came to such things.” He said as they arrived at the location. A knock on the door and a young woman appeared.
“Oh!” She smiled at them and moved aside. “You must be the mages from fairy tail! Please, come in and sit down.” Lucy and Enma came in and sat down on a couch. “I’m Trish and… well… I need you to recover a stolen artifact. I don’t know who took it but… It looks like a golden goblet with many different jewels decorating it and…” Trish’s face turned to one of guilt. “Even though I don’t know who stole it… the power of the artifact… it was originally meant to resurrect the recently deceased but… It didn’t work. All it did was animate the dead, allowing them to walk around. Eventually they might return to their old selves but… only if they’ve consumed enough living flesh. So that’s why this mission is worth so much but I was relieved to hear that Fairy Tail sent some members to help out.”
“Z-Zombies?” Enma said before looking over to Lucy to see her reaction. Although it was creepy, Enma had seen something worse and more powerful than zombies so he wasn’t that afraid of them but he certainly didn’t enjoy the idea of fighting some.
“Bullied? Why don’t you try to fight back?” She curiously asked. After few hours of travelling, from Magnolia Town, they finally got to Acalypha Town where the client was living. As the train stopped, Lucy looked outside the window. “Looks like we’re here” She then stood up and grabbed her bag. “Let’s go” they headed outside and proceed at the client’s house. “The client’s name is..uh.. ‘Trish’ so, it’s a girl huh?” Lucy said. “Let’s go!”
Enma let out a sigh and looked down at the floor. “It’s not easy to fight back… especially when they’re older and bigger than you.”
Next they were on their way to the clients house and Enma simply nodded at Lucy’s question. “You know… usually people laugh at me for how useless I am. Why haven’t you?” It was a question he had been meaning to ask her. For the most part she had just been very nice and kind to him. “Maybe it’d be better if you did this mission on your own… I doubt I’ll be any help…” The boy had no confidence in himself or his abilities.
“It’s possible that we coukd encounter dark mages so, we have to be careful but, don’t worry! Even if it i don’t look like one, i am a mage. I mentioned to it earlier right?” she said. When Enma said he doesn’t have money to buy tickets and asked her if she can pay, Lucy agreed. “Don’t worry! I’m going to buy our train ticket.” After buying train tickets for them, they waited for the train to arrive. As the train finally arrived, they entered and they looked for a vacant seat. They sat down after they found one and waited the train to depart. Once again, Lucy read the request form. “It says here that, the client’s place is at Acalypha.”
“By the way, I’m just curious, do you know how to fight?”
Enma stared at her with a vacant look. Did he know how to fight? That was a complicated issue to him. “Well, I often get bullied at school… so in that sense. No, I don’t know how to fight like that. But… I can be good in a pinch… if I have to…” He let out a sigh and slumped his shoulders. “I’m sorry, I just can’t summon my fighting spirit at will like others can…” It was true, the only time he was able to fight was when it was for the sake of others. If they got into serious trouble then he’d be able to fight, but before that he’d just be a wussy kid.
“Come on! Don’t be nervous!” They now proceed at the guild board. Using her eyes, the celestial mage scanned the boad, hoping that there is a good and easy mission that Enma can do. After a while, Enma spotted a request form asking for help to find a magical relic that had gone missing. Lucy pulled the request form from the guild board and read it. “Yes, it seems so.” she started. “Alright! Let’s do this!” A wide smile grew on Lucy’s face after seeing the cost of reward. “100,000J?! Too high! Probably because that relic is too important and special” They now proceed at guild bar and ask for Mirajane’s permission. Fortunately, Mirajane agreed. After that, they now stepped outside, heading the train station to the place of their client. Of course they have to meet the client too for further details. Then suddenly, Lucy thought of something. If that relic is magical and important, it is possible that someone was finding that relic too so, they have to be careful.
“Enma, remember this. Don’t ever let your guard down. Okay? Whatever happens”
Enma just nodded at her warning. It was true that anyone could be their enemy on this kind of mission. If the relic was anything like his ring then it’d be indeed sought after. “W-What do you think we’ll run into on this mission?” He asked as they arrived at the station. “Ah…” He realized that he’d have to pay for a ticket but he didn’t own any money. “Could you…” He pointed towards the ticket booth. “I don’t have any money yet… I’ll pay you back…”
She had no choice but to pay for him at this point and after they had gotten their tickets they began to board the train with the other passengers. Unfortunately as Enma boarded he tripped and fell on the stairs. He winced in pain and rubbed the shin that had been hit on the edge of the stairs. “Don’t worry about me… I’m used to this kind of thing…” That was another way of saying that he was a klutz.
Lucy knew that Enma will become terrified after seeing the guild members as they fight for no reason. “W-Well, you know, this is just ‘normal’. It’s just a ‘friendly’ fight” she then turned back her look at the noisy, lively guild members. She saw, Gray stripping while fighting Natsu, Juvia cheering for Gray, then Gajeel holding a guitar and planning to sing ‘best friend’, Cana and the other guys drinking, Droy and Jet are with Levy, Mirajane, Wendy and Lisanna and the two exceeds are at the bar, talking. She then turned back to Enma. “Well, they’re just like that.” she made a nervous laughed. “So, let’s proceed at the request board and look for a job”
“O-Okay…” He continued to just nervously follow her to the mission board. A few guildmates took notice of him, particularly Mira. Enma made eye contact with her and she gave a friendly wave and smile. He replied with a hesitant wave of his own. “S-So…” He turned back and looked over Lucy’s shoulder at the mission board. “What kind of missions are… safe?” The last thing he wanted to do was get in a dangerous fight in a new world like this. His hand rubbed over the ring on his right hand, wondering if things would get bad enough that he’d have to use it. Hopefully he wouldn’t have to since they were going on a safe mission. “H-How about this one?” Enma pointed towards a mission asking to find a magical relic that had gone missing. It seemed pretty straight forward… just find the item, right?
“Well now, I don’t believe we’ve met before. Pleasure to meet you.”
Enma blushed at the model class woman standing in front of him. “I-I… i-it’s nice to meet you too…” He said while awkwardly bowing his head. “I-I’m Enma…” He spoke in a soft and quiet tone, barely even making a voice out for her to hear.
